Dryden OPP getting new positions

A couple of new positions are being added to the Dryden detachment of the OPP.

Inspector Adam Illman says one will be targeting things like domestic violence.

“Abuse Issues investigator is a detachment position,” Illman told Dryden city council recently during a presentation.

“We’ll be getting a subject matter expert to lead abuse issues, intimate partner violence and sexual abuse investigations.”

Illman adds the other is a regional position based out of the Dryden detachment created by the OPP’s head office in Orillia.

“Community Safety Services…it comes from general headquarters. Each region is getting one position, and the northwest, they put that in Dryden and that is going to be Sergeant Brittany Bembenek, she was successful in the competition, and she starts on September 2nd.”

Illman adds that Marcus Boyer was also successful in the competition for the sergeant of the regional Emergency Response Team and will also be based out of Dryden.

He says with the new appointments, there are now three staff vacancies in the Dryden Detachment.
