Synergy North outlines investments in Kenora

Synergy North says it has a number of capital plans for Kenora in the next year.

Interim President and CEO Andrew Covello says that includes replacing a number of pieces of equipment.

“A very aggressive capital investment program for 2024,” Covello told city council recently during the utility’s annual presentation.

“Looking at single pole replacements of 20 to a value of $300,000. Another 35 single poles for $650,000. So, we’re looking at about a $1.1 million dollar investment in Kenora in 2024.”

Covello says they also plan to hire three more people for their Kenora operations.

“We have four powerline technicians in our complement. Our intention is to go to six this year, if we can find two more people, because staffing is very difficult these days. We’re also looking at introducing a new position, an engineering coordinator, to help your customers in Kenora on connections, pricing and estimates.”

Covello adds they have six commercial installations in Kenora this year, which represents a significant investment in 2024.
