Wabaseemoong breaks ground on new subdivison

A new subdivision is being planned for the Wabaseemoong Independant Nations northwest of Kenora.

A community celebration was held on Tuesday to break ground for the 63 residential lots.

The subdivision includes associated roads and infrastructure.

The federal government is providing $15 million towards the project.

It says the housing project is part of its strategy aimed at addressing housing needs on First Nations.

The First Nation says it will offer more families in the community a comfortable place to call home.
