Rehabilitation of Railway Street to resume soon

Construction is expected to resume in the next week or so on Phase 3 of the Railway Street Project.

That will take it from Gould Road to the railway crossing at 16th Avenue North.

Greg Breen is the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure and says unfortunately because of settling, they are going to have to keep the roadbed where it is now.

“We are also battling some high water level conditions in that area,” Breen related to city council recently.

“There are some sewer and water connections, that due to the settlement have actually come apart, and have to be reconnected. Hopefully the water levels don’t stay as high as they are, because that will definitely impact how quickly we can get through the construction.”

Phases one and two were completed over the last two years.

The city is still waiting to hear word on provincial funding for phase 4, which would extend construction of Railway Street from Pro-Auto Glas to Kal Tire.
