Aggravated assault charges laid in Keewaywin

A 17 year old youth has been charged with aggravated assault following a stabbing on the Keewaywin First Nation.

The incident took place early Monday morning when the suspect and a 19-year-old were having a conversation.

The Nishnawbe Aski Police it was at this point the 17-year-old assaulted the male victim.

He was taken to hospital in Thunder Bay for treatment of his injuries, believed to be non-life threatening.

The assailant fled on foot but was arrested later that morning by officers.

He’s been remanded into custody pending a future count date.
