Alert Ready test will take place on Wednesday

An alarm will sound on your radio, TV and compatible wireless devices on Wednesday.

But do not be alarmed — there is a good chance it is only a test.

Public safety authorities will conduct a test of Canada’s national public alerting system.

Alert Ready is designed to deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts, including but not limited to tornadoes, flooding, fires and AMBER alerts.

As of the end of October, the Alert Ready system had distributed more than 840 emergency alerts across Canada this year.

You can find out what time the test will take place in your province on the Alert Ready website.
