The Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Districts has launched its “Learning Series for Care Partners,” a free, four-week educational program designed for family members and friends who are supporting individuals living with dementia.

The program is free, but space is limited, so registration is required. To reserve a spot, you can contact the Alzheimer Society by phone at 807-468-1516 or by email at info@alzheimerkrr.com.

The program runs every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alzheimer Society office, located at 618 Ninth Street North in Kenora, beginning today, Nov. 6, and continuing on Nov. 13, 20 and 27.

Albiya Cherian, client services coordinator, says each week will be explore different topics, including understanding dementia, efficient communication, self-care strategies and local community resources.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for caregivers to gain practical knowledge and connect with others on a similar journey,” says Cherian.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Alzheimer Society, they help educate the public, healthcare professionals and frontline workers on respectful ways to interact with individuals living with dementia. They also help people recognize 10 early signs and stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Their mission is to raise awareness, promote education and support research.
