Work is getting underway this week on Keewatin-Channel Bridge.
Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Greg Breen says initially, the contractor will be clearing brush.
“There is some vegetation…some selective tree clearing that does have to happen on the east side of the bridge, underneath and within city limits, on that east landing,” Breen told Kenora city council recently.
The city says the work won’t necessitate any lane closures at this time, and the waterway below the bridge won’t be affected by the activity.
Work on the $9.9 million project includes steel replacement and re-coating the steel beams.
