Canada Post unveils stamp honouring Blue Rodeo

Canada Post has introduced a new stamp to recognize an iconic Canadian band, Blue Rodeo.

Formed in 1984, Blue Rodeo is celebrated for blending country folk, and rock to create a sound that has become a hallmark of Canadian music.

Led by Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, the band’s rise began with their debut album Outskirts, which featured the hit single “Try.”

This track earned them significant acclaim, including several JUNO nominations and key awards in 1989.

Since then, Blue Rodeo has released over a dozen albums, producing widely recognized songs such as “Lost Together” and “5 Days in May.”

Their career achievements include 12 JUNO Awards, a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and more than four million album sales.

The stamp, designed by Jim Ryce, highlights portraits of the band’s seven current members and includes artwork inspired by their signature western-style outfits, according to Canada Post.

Luis Mora contributed the photography, and Katy Lemay provided illustrations, with floral details drawn from their distinctive style.

The stamps are available in booklets and as an official first-day cover.
