City of Dryden looking at a surplus in 2025

Still one more quarter to go, but the City of Dryden is forecasting it should be in the black by the end of the year.

The third quarter report was received by city council this week.

Treasurer Kim Junko says staff vacancies are one reason for the surplus.

“We’re forecasting a less expense because of the vacancies,” Junko told city council at its open meeting this week.

“We can see that revenues are little bit higher than budget and that’s mainly to do with taxes. Expenses are little bit lower, and debt is on target, and the capital is a little bit lower than budget.”

Mayor Jack Harrison says the city’s budget surplus could be as high as a half a million dollars in 2025.
