City signs license agreement with Mount Evergreen

The City of Kenora wants to make sure there are winter sporting options available in the long term.

To that end, the city has come to 10-year license agreements with the Mount Evergreen Ski Club and the Kenora Nordic and Biathlon Club.

The city says with this agreement it ensures the ongoing operation of these winter, family-oriented activities.

Over the past six years, the city says it has provided $165,000 through the Municipal Accommodation Tax, resulting in over $600,000 in upgrades and improvements with contributions from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

Another $100,000 has gone to the Kenora Nordic and Biathlon Club for upgrades and equipment purchases.

There is also a focus on shoulder season events, like the Kenora Fall Festival on Sunday, which attracted hundreds of parents, guardians and children.
