Construction ongoing on building of new road

A new road is in the process of being built in Kenora.

Work is continuing on the Mellick Avenue Extension.

Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Greg Breen says construction on the road won’t be completed this year.

“It’s not like we’re going to get to have it 100 percent wrapped up, and you know, a through road there for this winter,” Breen told council during his capital works update.

“But we’ll continue on working there in the spring and get that wrapped up as quickly as we can.”

Breen adds they are also installing sewer and water lines for future development.

“I’d say that the underground piping is kind of nearing that 50 percent completion stage.”

The new road will connect 9th Street North to 5th Street North and runs across the former mill property.
