Drug bust in Longlac leads to seizure of drugs and stolen property

A drug trafficking investigation in Greenstone has resulted in a major seizure of illicit substances, cash, and stolen property.

Ontario Provincial Police say members of the Greenstone Community Street Crime Unit, along with officers from Thunder Bay, Nipigon, Marathon, Manitouwadge, and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Drug Unit, executed four search warrants in Longlac.

The searches led to the seizure of:

  • 190 grams of methamphetamine
  • 155 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
  • 10 grams of fentanyl
  • 14 grams of cocaine
  • 42 grams of crack cocaine
  • Over $2,700 in cash

The estimated street value of the drugs is more than $27,000. Police also seized a 2021 GMC pickup and property believed to have been obtained through crime, valued at approximately $150,000.

A 49-year-old man from Longlac has been charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking and possession of stolen property over $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody.

Police are asking anyone in the Longlac area with outstanding stolen property to report it by contacting Greenstone OPP.
