Eagle Lake Chiefs win national title

The Eagle Lake Chiefs have won the annual Fred Saskamoose “Chief Thunderstick” national championship in Saskatoon.

The Chiefs defeated the Six Nations Ironmen in the final on Sunday night.

Kenora Islanders coach Nathan Bruyere was named the top defenseman of the tournament.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs were also well represented with six former players on the team including Troy Williams, Matthew Pitchenese, Marlon Gardner, Trevor Kavanaugh, Tim Kavanaugh, and Sheldon Adams.

40 teams were entered in the men’s division with 80 pool games played.
