Education funding in Ontario increases

The provincial government is spending $1.7 billion more on education this year than last year.

The budget for core education is $30.3 billion, up from $28.6 billion last year.

That includes more for classroom spending, special education and learning resources.

The province is also increasing the school renewal fund to $2 billion.

That’s in addition to the $1.3 billion already being spent for 45 new schools and school expansions.
