ELA continues Artist in Residence program

A video game music creator and a sound designer from Winnipeg is the latest Artist in Residence at the Experimental Lakes Area.

Julian Beutel spent last week at the ELA working and recording during his stay.

He says it was a worthwhile experience.

“There’s obviously the production that was a big success for me, but then added bonus of meeting so many people from all walks of life,” Beutel says from his home in Winnipeg.

“It’s a really inspiring place and community to, kind of, parachute in and explore.”

Beutel adds his days were full and he was able do some work and learn more about the ELA.

“Just being disconnect from everything was a great way to stay focused on what I was there to investigate. Also, just being thrust into a completely new environment in terms of geography. As well, there were a tonne of new folks to meet and material to learn and get immersed in.”

Beutel says he will use some of his recordings in his musical compositions.
