Emergency shelter to extend hours of operation

The emergency shelter in Kenora will be open longer hours this winter.

Starting in October, the shelter, located in the basement of Knox Unit Church, will be open from 4 pm to 8 am daily.

That’s four hours extra.

The Kenora District Services Board says it’s been working with a number of local agencies to increase hours of operation.

That includes the Canadian Mental Health Association Kenora office and the All Nations Health Partners.

There has been concern of the four-hour gap between when the Fellowship Center closes, and the emergency shelter opens its doors.
