The high price of gas is definitly affecting the bottom line for the City of Kenora.
City treasurer Ryan Marsh says they ran a deficit in the most recent quarter, and fuel costs were part of the problem.
“In the increase in fuel, we’re seeing about $123,000 in the tax supported departments, as an increase,” Marsh told city council this week at its Committee of the Whole meeting.
“Overall, the increase for the city is about $240,000 we’re forecasting…that includes solid waste, water and sewer.”
Marsh adds that every department of the city is affected by the jump in gas prices.
“You know, when we have a little bit of a bump, well not a little bit, but a large bump in the price, we feel it throughout the departments.”
Overall, the city had a deficit of $367,000 in the first quarter ending March 31st.
