Hospital optimistic locums incentives will continue

Lake of the Woods District Hospital is confident that an incentive program for physicians to work in northern hospitals will be renewed.

The Temporary Locum Program is set to expire on March 31st.

President and CEO of the hospital Ray Racette says they have heard through a number of sources that it will be continued.

Racette adds they don’t have any details on the program and which hospitals will be affected.

He suggests they would have to close their Emergency Room if they don’t get any financial help.

Even with the incentives, Racette says they were only able to cover 70 percent of the shifts in the ER in February.
