Ice Dogs and Walleye meet in SIJHL final

It will be the top two teams in the regular season in the final of the SIJHL.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs will do battle with the Kam River Fighting Walleye for the right to go to the Centennial Cup in Calgary in May.

The Ice Dogs shut out the Red Lake Miners 3-0 last night to sweep the best-of-seven semifinal in four games straight.

Kellan Mooney, the goaltender of the year in the SIJHL, recorded the shutout.

The Walleye also beat the Thunder Bay North Stars in four games after a 4-3 win last night in overtime.

Jett Mintenko, the offensive forward of the year in the SIJHL, scored the game winner at 6:16 of overtime.

The schedule for the league final has not been finalized yet.
