A company has been selected by the Town of Ignace to do a peer review of any documents to do with the deep geological repository.
Hardy Stevenson and Associates Limited will provide recommendations to the town’s senior staff and council about the nuclear waste project.
The company has a full team of experts to conduct the reviews.
Dave Hardy from Hardy Stevenson says they have list of qualified experts to give advice.
“It’s rare for communities the size of Ignace to have this depth of expertise and top scientists and professionals on board to provide the necessary support, given the size of this Adaptive Phased Management project,” states Hardy.
“The Ignace Peer Review Team is pleased to provide our full support to the Township. We’ve already begun reviewing NWMO materials and we look forward to supporting the Township and residents throughout the entirety of this project to ensure the DGR achieves their vision,” he went on to state.
The team include physicists, a rock mechanic specialist, a geoscientist, ecologists, a civil engineer, a social scientist and a community/ environmental planner.
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is paying for the peer review under the Municipal Hosting Agreement and administered by the town.
