Inflation rate falls slightly in February

Canada’s inflation rate was down slightly in February.

Statistics Canada says the Consumer Price Index rose 2.8 percent on a year-over-year basis.

That’s down from a 2.9 percent gain in January.

Food prices at the grocery store rose 2.4 percent, that’s down from 3.4 percent in January.

Gas prices were up slightly year-over-year after a four percent decline in January.

Stats Canada says cell services and Internet access were also cheaper.
