Kenora city council looks at increase in cost of bag tags

Kenora city council is considering an increase in bag tags.

The proposal from administration is to raise it to $2.75.

Director of Finance Ryan Marsh says they are looking at increases across the board in the Solid Waste Department.

“The increase in rates are forecast to increase revenues by approximately $100,000,” Marsh told council at a budget meeting last week.

“The bag tag increase is by 15 cents. Tipping fee increases, on average, will go up by 2.5 percent across the board, and all other fee increases, such as commercial pick-up, bin rentals, etcetera, will have a 2.5 percent increase in that decision report.”

The report on the fee increases was contained in a reported presented to council when discussing the Solid Waste and Sewer and Water budgets on Friday.

No councillors spoke against the fee increases.
