Kenora firefighters reach deal with the city

Details haven’t been released, but the City of Kenora has reached a contract settlement with it’s firefighters.

It’s a five year deal and was reached on December 4th.

The city says the collective agreement with the Kenora Professional Firefighters Association provides stability and predictability as well as long-term financial planning for the municipality.

Kenora Fire Chief Gord Howard believes the agreement is good for the firefighters and the city.

“This agreement strengthens our ability to deliver outstanding emergency response and service to the community,” says Howard in a news release.

“By working together, we ensure that our firefighters have the resources and support they need to continue protecting Kenora residents effectively and safely.”

The city adds the agreement was achieved without the need for arbitration, which can result in extra costs and delays.
