Kenora moose hunters fined

A Kenora hunter faces a hefty fine for killing a moose north of the city.

Back in October of 2022, two people where driving on English River Road when they came across a cow moose and her calf standing on the road.

Court heard that Larry Canfield got out of the pick-up and shot the moose several times with a high-powered rifle.

The other person in the vehicle affixed her tag on the moose.

They then loaded the unlawfully killed moose in the back of their pick-up and drove back to Kenora.

Canfield received over $11,000 in fines and a two-year hunting license suspension.

Glenda McNally also of Kenora pleaded guilty to possessing unlawfully taken wildlife and received a $1,000 fine.
