Krause wins first feature, Bell takes MWM feature, Mulholland wins

Submitted by: Lake of the Woods Speedway

It was one for the record books as Lake of the Woods Speedway hosted the Season Track Championship on Sunday, Aug 23. It was also the final race for the Prairie Shield Cup Challenge, a four-race event between Victory Lane Speedway and Lake of the Woods Speedway (best of 3).

The Riverview Industries WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were broken into two heats. In heat one, Paul Veert started on the pole and pulled away from Nick Audette and Christopher Leek for the win. In heat two, Brandon Rehill started second row outside and slingshot around Brodie Mcgowan for the win. Nick Hooper rounded out the top three.

In the feature, Edward Bell and Veert started on the front row. From the very start of the race, Bell was able to claim the lead and hold of Veert until a late caution came out. On the restart, Bell pulled away from the field enough to eventually claim his first win of 2026. Nick Audette claimed a hard charger, gaining three spots to finish fourth.

Christopher Leek claimed his first track championship at Lake of the Woods Speedway in the class. He had finished second two previous seasons, including by one point in 2025.

In the HD Contracting Enterprises Ltd. 4-Cylinders, Alexander Farr started in the seventh position and after battling side by side with Tyler Brooks, took the win. Will Alcock claimed third. In the second heat, Madoc Mulholland claimed the win over Brodie Mcgowan, Lisa Ressing finished third after a close battle with Kianna Edison.

In the feature, Madoc Mulholland made his way from fifth to the front with a great battle with Brooks. Farr would eventually get into the mix which led to a side by side battle while maneuvering through lap traffic. On the last lap, the two leaders got involved in a incident that led to a final restart. Mulholland would claim the feature win.

Congratulations to Team Mulholland for winning the 2026 HD Contracting Ent. 4-Cylinders Becky Alcock Memorial Track Championship!

The Q104 Limited Stocks also had plenty of action to go around as they also were split into two heat races. In heat one, Jeff Copp fought with Matt Taylor for several laps and then had to hold off a charging Morgan McDonald to take the win. In the second heat, Logan McDonald claimed the win with Justin Krause not quite having enough for the leader. Bryson McDonald claimed third.

The feature race was full of excitement. Logan McDonald started on the front row but it wasn’t long until his brother Bryson was beside him. The two battled out for much of the first half of the race. After a couple of cautions, Bryson had taken the lead. Suddenly, on the backstretch, Bryson started to slow down due to a mechanical issue and pulled off , granting Logan the lead. It looked for certain at one point that Logan would claim the feature win, but after starting in the sixth position, Justin Krause had moved into second and gaining quickly on the leader. After receiving the two to go signal, Krause was able to sneak by Logan for the lead. A last ditch effort on the last lap by Logan wasn’t enough giving Krause his first feature win at Lake of the Woods Speedway.

In a stunning turn of events, points leader Bryson McDonald going into the race day had a ten-point advantage disappear, allowing Logan McDonald to claim his first ever Q104 Limited Stock Track Championship! He finished second in each of the previous two seasons.

Congratulations to #88 Paul Veert in the Riverview Industries WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, #45R Dave Rogers in the Q104 Limited Stocks, and #71 Madoc Mulholland in the HD Contracting Ent. 4-Cylinders for the Prairie Shield Cup Challenge Championships!
