Legendary Canadian curler Colleen Jones has died at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer, according to her son Luke.
In a post on social media, he says she passed late Tuesday morning after three-year battle.
“Late this morning while looking out over the ocean on her favorite spot in Maders Cove, with my dad, my brother and myself beside her, mom passed away,” reads the post. “Please think of your favorite Colleen Jones moment, cherish it. Hurry and love hard.”
Jones, a Halifax native, was named the 2nd greatest Nova Scotian athlete of all time, behind Sidney Crosby, by the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
She won six Scotties Tournaments of Hearts and was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2022 and the Canada Sports of Hall of Fame in 2016.
Jones had a successful broadcasting career with the CBC for 40 years.
