Alzheimer’s isn’t just something you hear about on the news or see in a movie. It’s something that touches real families, right here in our own community. With over 55 million people worldwide living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, chances are, someone you care about is affected. A parent. A grandparent. A neighbour. A friend. It can leave your family feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure of where to turn.
That’s why events like this Thursday’s public education session hosted by the Alzheimer’s Society of Kenora-Rainy River matter so much. From 10am to 2pm at A&W in Kenora, you’re invited to stop by, grab a coffee, and have a real conversation with staff and volunteers from the Alzheimer’s Society of Kenora-Rainy River. Folks who understand what this journey looks like.
Whether you’ve got questions about early signs, need support for a loved one, or just want to learn more about how Alzheimer’s affects people in our region, this is a chance to connect. No pressure, no speeches. Just people helping people.
It’s all part of recognizing World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21st, a day to raise awareness, show support, and remind each other that no one has to face this alone.
Swing by A&W this Thursday. Learn something new!
Recently, I had the chance to speak about this event with Client Services Coordinator, Albiya Cherian. Listen to the full interview below!
