Liberals lead latest federal election poll on Canadians’ voting intentions

Mark Carney and the Liberals top a new voter poll.

According to the latest Leger report, 44% of Canadians say they would vote for the Liberal Party if the federal election were held today.

That’s compared to 38% for Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party. The NDP trails far behind with 6%.

Thirty-nine per cent of those surveyed said Carney would make the best Prime Minister of Canada, compared to 28% who said Poilievre would.

Regardless of their political affiliations, nearly half of those polled believe the Liberals will win the next election, while 31% think the Conservatives will. Just 3% believe the NDP will win.

Leger’s report indicates Canadians are divided on what they consider to be the most important issue in the April 28th election.

It finds 36% percent believe it is determining who would be the best Prime Minister to deal with President Trump and aggressive U.S. trade actions. Not far behind, 33% say the key issue is choosing the leader best suited to change the direction the nation has taken over the past four years and improve life for Canadians.” Meanwhile, 24% believe the most important question is who can best strengthen and grow our country’s economy.

The market researchers also found that “Liberal voters are more likely to see managing the relationship with President Trump as the top priority, while Conservative voters are more inclined to prioritize changing the direction Canada has taken in recent years.”
