A couple of major fundraisers in Kenora this weekend.
The Kenora Rotary Club is holding its annual Lobsterfest at the Kenora Curling Club Saturday night, and the Terry Fox Run will take place a day later.
Lobsterfest starts at 6 pm with cocktails, and dinner begins at 7 pm with dancing starting at 9 pm with the band Stone House.
Meanwhile, the Terry Fox Run is celebrating its 45th year.
Laurine Goerzen is one of the organizers of the run and says the route hasn’t changed since it began.
“The route follows the same path it has the past several years,” explains Goerzen.
“It starts at Valleyview and heads around Rabbit Lake to the gazebo and heads back. It’s 5 k(ilometers). We have maps on our Facebook page and there will be a map at the school.”
Goerzen hopes they can add a couple of special twists this year.
“We’re hoping to add some new fun things this year, but its weather dependent, so we’ll have to wait until closer to the run to see if we can do them.”
Goerzen says the Terry Fox Run in Kenora has raised over $700,000 so far in its 44 years of existence.
