Local sports for Monday, January 26th, 2026

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs and the Fort Frances Lakers continue to hold down first and second place respectively in the SIJHL standings.

Both teams won both of their games this weekend.

The Ice Dogs doubled the Red Lake Miners 4-2 on Saturday and 6-2 Friday night.

The Lakers meanwhile won both of their games against the Kam River Fighting Walleye.

Fort Frances took the Friday night game 4-3 in overtime and came back with a 2-1 win Saturday night.

The Ironwood Lumberjacks upset the Sioux Lookout Bombers 6-5 Saturday after their Friday night game was postponed.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Fort Frances Lakers continue to hold spots in the weekly top 20 ranking by the Canadian Junior Hockey League.

The SIJHL-leading Ice Dogs moved up a spot from last week to sit number 13.

The Lakers hold steady in the 17th spot.
