The Sioux Lookout Bombers now hold down first place in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.
The Bombers won all three of its games over the weekend including an 8-1 win over the Red Lake Miners Sunday night.
Sioux Lookout also beat the Ironwood Lumberjacks in back-to-back games Friday and Saturday night, 6-2 and 11-5 respectively.
The Fort Frances Lakers also had a good weekend winning both of its games, 5-2 on Friday night against the Miners and 3-2 on Saturday against the Kam River Fighting Walleye.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs and the Thunder Bay North Stars split their games over the weekend.
The North Stars ruined the Ice Dogs home opener with a 9-6 victory, but Dryden bounced back on Saturday night with a 4-3 win in overtime.
All three teams from northwestern Ontario won their games Friday in the Winnipeg High School Football League.
The Beaver Brae Broncos won their first game of the season, 48-33 over the St. John’s Tigers.
Noah Rowe scored four touchdowns in the win.
The Fort Frances Muskies remain undefeated after a 37-31 win over the St. Norbert Celtics.
The Dryden Eagles also won their game, 35-21 over the Churchill Bulldogs.
At the Kenora Invitational Volleyball Tournament, the Beaver Brae Broncos took top honours, dropping only three sets to take gold in the senior’s division.
The Broncos junior team ended up claiming silver.
