More outflow decreases at Norman Dam scheduled

Extremely dry weather in the Winnipeg River drainage basin is forcing the Lake of the Woods Control Board to conduct several small outflow decreases at the Norman Dam.

There will be four over the next week along with two that already took place this week.

The Control Board says it wants to reduce water levels on the Winnipeg River slowly due to the fish spawn, that’s currently taking place and the increase in recreation boating activity.

Overall, the Winnipeg River will go down about 27 centimeters by next Friday and 15 centimeters at the Dalles.

Lake of the Woods is expected to drop about one centimeter over the next week, due to the lack of rain.
