NAPS lay manslaughter charges on Eabametoong

A 31-year-old man from the Eabementoong (Fort Hope) First Nation is facing manslaughter charges following a sudden death in that community.

The Nishnawbe Aski Police say they were called to the nursing station in the community Monday evening.

A man had been brought in but was pronounced deceased.

He has since been identified as 30-year-old Todd Robert Isaac Boyce.

NAPS says they were assisted by the coroner and the OPP in the investigation.

On Tuesday, police says they arrested a suspect and charged him in connection to the fatality.

He appeared in court today on the charges and has been remanded into custody pending a future court date.
