Nine fires burning in Northwestern Ontario

There are no new wildfires burning this week in Northwestern Ontario.

In last night’s update, forest fire services says there are nine fires burning in the region.

One is out of control, while fire fighters have three under control and are watching five others.

Most of the Northwest region has a low to moderate forest fire hazard, with some scattered high hazard areas in Red Lake, Fort Frances and some sectors managed by Greenstone Fire services

Although it’s fall, fire fighters are reminding people to avoid burning any fallen leaves and to compost them instead.
