One dead after transport rollover near Falcon Lake

One person is dead following a single vehicle collision near Falcon Lake.

The Falcon Beach detachment of the RCMP responded to semi truck rollover about 8 kilometers east of the community around 6:00 Sunday morning.

Police say an eastbound tractor-trailer unit with two occupants lost control and slid into the ditch and rolled.

The 54 year old driver from Surrey, BC wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22 year old male passenger, also from Surrey suffered only minor injuries.

The roads were reported to be icy at the time of the collision.

Falcon Beach RCMP along with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
