One new fire in Northwestern Ontario

Only one new fire was spotted in Northwestern Ontario by Thursday evening.

Overall, there are 59 fires in the region, with seven out of control and nine under control.

The wildland fire hazard has dropped after some rain Thursday night.

It sits between low and moderate, with some pockets of high risk.

Smoke is still causing air quality statements and warnings from just north of Dryden and west of Fort Hope.
