The list of candidates seeking to become the leader of the Ontario Liberal Party has been reduced by one.
Toronto-area MPP Rob Cerjanec announced Monday that he is suspending his campaign.
Cerjanec provides no specific reasons, but indicates his decision came after discussions with supporters and family members.
“To everyone who volunteered, donated, encouraged me, and believed in this campaign, thank you,” states Cerhjanec in a social media post.
“Your confidence has been deeply humbling. This campaign is ending, but the work that inspired it will continue.”
Cernajec still plans to stay on as an MPP and states that he is fully committed to serving his constituents, supporting the Liberal caucus and working alongside the next leader.

His withdrawal leaves MPP Lee Fairclough, former federal cabinet minister Navdeep Bains, Eric Lombardi, a Toronto area housing advocate, and Dylan Marando, a former political staffer, in the race for November’s vote by Liberal supporters.
The deadline for others to enter is July 31st.
