OPP hiring data entry clerks in some detachments

The Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Dryden Detachments of the OPP will be adding to their staffing levels.

They are part of a pilot project to hire civilian data entry clerks.

Inspector Adam Illman says it’s something they been lobbying for.

“They are just going to do the paperwork for our front-line officers, allowing them to be out in the community more,” explained Illman recent to Dryden City council.

Illman says the job ad goes out in the coming days.

“We’ve been pushing this for a long time. Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Kenora are going to be pilot detachments. So, we’re going to have civilians on platoon to do the paperwork for front-line officers.”

Illman says the data entry clerks will work days and nights as part of their job.
