OPP lay 2nd degree murder charge on Wauzhushk Onigum

A 45-year-old man has been charged with a second-degree murder in connection with a death on the Wauzhushk Onigum Nation (Rat Portage First Nation) almost two years ago.

The OPP and the Treaty #3 Police say they began to investigate a sudden death on Pow Wow Island on April 22, 2023.

As a result of their investigation, Ronald Stone from Wauzhushk Onigum has been arrested.

He’s being held in custody and is to appear in Kenora Court later today.

The name of the victim has not been released, but the OPP says it is a 77-year-old man from Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls.

The OPP say the First Nation community helped with information that helped with their investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-22-8477 (TIPS).
