The Regina Pats and the Thunder Bay Kings each have a win to open the U18 AAA Western Regionals in Kenora.
The Pats downed the Winnipeg Wild Thursday afternoon 5-1, while the Kings got by the host Kenora Thistles 2-1.
Tomorrow, the Wild will meet the Kings in the afternoon match while the Thistles will take on the Pats in the night game.
The winner of the Western playdowns will advance to the Telus National championships in Kelowna later this month.
