A national fundraiser with a local connection is coming to the Kenora Harbourfront this weekend.
The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Jarnel Contracting Pavilion. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with the walk expected to wrap up by early afternoon.
The event supports the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, which helps provide trained Dog Guides to Canadians with disabilities at no cost.
Walkers are welcome to participate with or without a dog. The Kenora event also includes refreshments, dog treats, and prize giveaways.
There is no registration fee, but participants are encouraged to collect pledges. Each Dog Guide costs about $35,000 to raise and train.
Residents can register to walk, fundraise, or take part virtually through the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides registration page.
