If you’re looking to find palliative care resources, a fun board game party or a delicious breakfast this May long weekend, there are a few events coming up soon!
Palliative Care Expo
A major event is happening this afternoon in Kenora: The Palliative Care Expo. It runs from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Seven Generations Education Institute.
The local palliative care committee will be there to share resources for you or your loved ones. You can browse for information booths throughout the afternoon or stay to hear three guest speakers:
- 4-4:45: “Be heard when it matters most: An advanced care planning information session” by Sallie Hunt
- 5-5:45: “Palliative Care: Living and Dying Well” by Mike Limerick (Nurse Pracitioner)
- 6:15-7: “Supporting Caregivers: An Introduction to the Ontario Caregiver Organization” by Shrid Dhungel
The event also includes free draws and light refreshments.
Flower Power Board Game Party
If you’re looking for a fun time with friends, the Community Arts Hub is hosting its Flower Power Board Game Party from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
The reason it’s called “Flower Power” is because it’s just as it sounds…it’s flower themed! Don’t forget to dress up in anything floral, retro or colourful. You can expect board games, card, and even a photo booth.
Pancake Breakfast
Why make breakfast at home when you can join the McKenzie Clearwater Fire Department’s Pancake Breakfast event this Saturday, May 16? It’s runs from 9 a.m. to noon and everyone is welcome to attend!
At this year’s event, you can expect live demonstrations of the Jaws of Life and hands-on water play with one of their pumpers. It’s an opportunity to show the kids what a real fire station looks like and what fire fighters do every day.
