Poli-sci professor doesn’t see way forward for Trudeau

A political science professor says there’s no way out for Justin Trudeau.

Dr. Tom Urbaniak is reacting to the turmoil within the Liberal Party, as calls grow for the Prime Minister to step down.

He says he hopes the Trudeau has trusted friends that can tell him the truth.

“That it’s in the interest of the country, his party and his legacy for him to pass the torch. There’s no other pathway at this point,” said Urbaniak.

Urbaniak says if Trudeau steps down, the party would still be a longshot to win the next election, but they’d at least have a shot.

He adds the country needs a credible leader to step-up to U.S. president-elect Donald Trump and the threat of tariffs.

“And Trudeau is not in that position right now. Someone needs to come forward and say enough is enough, we are a sovereign nation, and you Trump are acting like a bully.”

Trump has repeatedly referred to Canada as the ’51st State’ and to the Prime Minister as ‘Governor Trudeau.’

Earlier this week, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and Housing Minister Sean Fraser stepped down from their cabinet roles.

Many Liberal MPs are also calling for Trudeau to step down.
