Progress made on large forest fires

Rain and cooler temperatures this week have helped out a couple MNR fire fighters battling a couple of significant wildfires in the Kenora District.

In fact, Kenora Fire #14 has finally been declared out.

It was reported back on May 8th.

The forest fire was part of the reason the Wabaseemoong First Nation was evacuated, burning just north of the community.

Also, Kenora Fire #20 is now under control and listed as being held at 36,000 hectares, as is Kenora Fire #32 at 77 hundred hectares.

Both are located along the Ontario/Manitoba Border.

The MNR says recent weather conditions ensures those fires will not spread.
