Provincial gas taxes held for another year

There is another freeze on the provincial taxes put on gasoline and fuel.

The Ford government is keeping a freeze on tax hikes first imposed in 2022 for at least another year.

The government says the relief will help offset a future rise in the federal carbon tax, which will take effect next April.

“Too many Ontario families are struggling as a result of the federal carbon tax and high interest rates, which is why we’re always working to help taxpayers keep more of their hard-earned money,” states Premier Doug Ford in a release.

“Our government’s gas and fuel tax cuts are just one way that we’re getting this done.”

The freeze keeps the provincial tax on gas at 9 cents per litre through to June 30, 2025.

The province says this will save Ontario households an average of $380 since the cuts were introduced.
