The provincial NDP is proposing a housing strategy of their own.
Leader Marit Stiles calls it Homes Ontario.
She says it makes housing construction easier, faster and more affordable.
“We’ll start by legalizing fourplexes and four-story multiplexes in every neighbourhood,” says Stiles.
“And we’re going to increase density around transit, creating stronger, more affordable, better-connected communities. But we won’t stop there. Homes Ontario will double the supply of permanently affordable housing by providing funding, low-cost financing and public land for nonprofit and co-op housing providers.”
Stiles says the plan will also bring back rent control.
