Repairs to the treatment plant in excess of $6 million

The City of Kenora has calculated how much an overflow event at the Treatment Plant last year will cost.

The city began looking at repairs to the system after a power outage caused the overflow of effluent into the river last September.

Including the clean-up of the effluent spill into the Winnipeg River, the price tag comes in at over $6.3 million.

Insurance has covered $360,000 for the effluent clean-up, which totaled $430,000.

The overflow also damaged a number of pieces of equipment at the treatment plant and repairs have to be made to some of the systems.

The includes the aeration tank, and digester building equipment.
