It’s not too early to start thinking about Christmas…at least if you are the Salvation Army.
Starting this week, the Sally Ann is starting to take appointments for their Christmas Hampers.
Stuart Walter is the Community Ministries Director and says the actual appointments will begin next month.
“For intake appointments, that’s going to be all throughout of the month of November,
“If somebody normally accesses the food bank, and they are going in November, we’ll do the appointment during their foodbank appointment. But for everyone else we’ll book the appointments in November.”
Walter predicts the need for the Christmas Hampers to be greater this year.
“I’m expecting to hand out more hampers this year than last year. Last year we had 147 hampers handed out, which was down from the year before. I think a lot of that was because the transition from my predecessor to myself and a gap in between, and me trying to get organized.”
Walter expects as many as 200 hampers will be delivered this Christmas season.
