Sioux Lookout advertising for Community Navigator

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout has a new job opening.

It’s for a Community Navigator.

Manager of Community, Economic and Strategic Initiatives Jennifer Esposito says they are looking for someone with a strong social services background.

“To be present in some of our municipal public spaces with a focus on our recreation center, Centennial Park, and the Town Beach,” explains Esposito.

“They’ll do some patrolling of the library. So, they’ll really be meeting people where they are at, and they’ll be present in the community.”

Esposito add they are looking for someone with experience navigating social and medical programs.

“This role is really about helping people earlier. So, the navigator can build trust, connect people to care sooner. So ideally, we’re de-escalating situations and supporting people before the end up in crisis and before there’s a situation that requires enforcement.”

Esposito says the job was just posted on Friday and they are hoping the successful candidate can begin the job near the beginning of July.
